Non-Action（无为 wú wéi ）

Non-action, or wú wéi (无为), is a central concept in Taoist philosophy. It refers to a philosophy of moving through the world effortlessly with minimal, intentional effort, free from ego. Rather than trying to shape the outcome of one’s life, Taoism suggests better outcomes will ensue if we follow the Way and relinquish control. This exhibition seeks to bring together ten works that explore the concept of wú wéi to ultimately show us how art making can guide us through grappling with change, uncertainty, and reveal a horizontal rather than hierarchical way of relating to the world.
